Plain Baked Beans Recipe
Ingredients:
3 c of white beans (dried)
1 pc of salt pork (8 ozs)
1/4 c of molasses
3 Tbsps of sugar (brown)
1 pc of onion (large); chopped
1/2 c of chili sauce
1 cl of garlic; peeled & chopped
1/2 c of khup
1 c of water (boiling)
Instructions:
Wash thoroughly the white beans. Immerse beans into cool water. Let it soak for the whole night. On the next day, drain and cover the white beans with water. Cook beans on low-heat ’til beans start to become tender. Pour half cup (boiling) water on to the pork. Score pork in some areas.
Add in the pork piece and liquid to the white beans. Add the molasses, sugar, onion, chili, garlic and khup to the other half of (boiling) water. Pour the white beans to this mixture. Cover the pot and start baking ’til beans are already tender (approximately 6 hours). Add small amounts of liquid if the white beans become dry. This is served best either cold or hot. Good for 12 persons
