Oriental Short Rib Barbecue-Uldrich Recipe
Ingredients:
4 lbs of ribs (beef, short)
2/3 c of spring onions; sliced thinly
1/2 c of soy sauce
1.5 Tbsps of packed sugar (brown)
1/2 c of water
1.5 Tbsps of sesame seeds; crushed & toasted
1 tsp of garlic; pounded
1 Tbsp of ginger (fresh); grated
1/8 tsp of of fresh pepper (Szechuan); ground
1/2 tsp of red pepper; ground
1 pc of chili peppers (fresh, mild)
1 pc of spring onions
1/4 c of sesame oil (dark roasted)
1 pc of radish (rose)
Instructions:
Cut the ribs not over 3/8-1/2 inch thick. Mix sliced spring onions, water, soy sauce, sesame oil and seeds, ginger, garlic, sugar, peppercorns and red pepper. Marinade the ribs in a plastice ware turning the ribs to cover all areas. Cover plastic ware and allow to it to marinate inside refrigerator for 4-6 hours, often turning.
After marinating, remove beef and save the marinade. Cook beef on a broiler at medium heat. Broil ribs 5-6 minutes. Brush ribs with the marinade after turning. Place a lid and let it continue broiling for 5-6 minutes ’til desired quality is achieved. On a platter, use chili, radish, and spring onions to garnish. This yields 5 serving or more.
